About Raquel Acevedo

I am an experienced photographer who loves her craft. I have a certificate from the New York Institute of Photography and have completed a seminar with internationally acclaimed photographer Kenneth Linge (A seminar I highly recommend or a private lesson). I have been a photographer for 9 years, and I persist in taking classes in the field to continue learning new techniques. I have also been involved with film for several years and have learned the most important techniques from both digital photography and film photography.

While I find technique and skill essential to my profession, I also believe that pictures should tell a story, be fun, and capture a person’s personality. I like to spend some time getting to know my clients before a photo shoot so I can know what to aim for in my photos. I want my clients to know and feel comfortable with me, as well. Without this atmosphere, the photos will feel staged and stiff.

I am creative, sensitive, expressive, and friendly, and I love to have fun. My interests include literature, photography (obviously), and keeping in touch with friends and family. I am Puerto Rican and love my food! Rice and beans, fried pork chops, and fried plantanes are a good start (notice the multiple fried foods). I could eat sushi every day. Blue is my favorite color. I love to shop at Charlotte Russe and Buckle. For anything photography, Nikon is it. Someday I will visit Italy and Spain, learn to play the guitar, and hula dance in Hawaii. In the meantime, I continue to laugh at myself and work on becoming a more patient mother to my wonderful son.
